Morbihan is a department bordered by the sea. Indeed, the whole southern part is along the sea or rather the Atlantic Ocean. It is therefore not surprising to find many beaches that make this region beautiful. There are obviously several activities sports or discovery that allow to animate these beaches. All this maritime culture is well rooted in Morbihanese traditions and more widely Breton. It is therefore, unimaginable for you not to discover this side of the Morbihan which is the pride of its inhabitants. The hardest part will be to choose where to start!
The beaches to bask in
Large area of fine sand, more confidential cove, large spaces attracting kitesurfers or basin... Among its 160 beaches, the Morbihan offers a wide range of walking and swimming places! So we offer you some beaches with a paradisiac look... You can take a family tour or alone to enjoy your holiday.
Let's start with one of the best known, the great beach of Carnac. Yes, this famous city not only houses menhirs, but also beautiful sandy beaches. The latter extends over more than 2 km and is the largest of the city's 5 beaches. In May 2015, she won the Blue Flag label, symbol of environmental excellence with excellent quality bathing water. This beach, accessible from everyone, is perfect for a moment to swim in crystal clear water and enjoy sunlight.
There are also slightly more hidden beaches, and therefore less touristic where only locals find themselves. These small corners, often in the shelter, in the heart of a cove, are ideal for relaxing in quiet away from all. In particular, the beach of the love cove in Guidel, little frequented even in the summer. Or, beach of the little Perello located in Ploemeur, which too, is less known and less frequented. These coves offer a preserved and very quiet environment, or you can rest in peace.
The activities in Morbihan are numerous... Head for the sport!
In addition to classic swimming, both adults and children will be able to learn about maritime sport and navigation. Canoe/catamaran/surf/sail tank/kayak, there are for all tastes, everywhere along the Morbihan coast.
Surfing? The Great Mané Guen beach At the entrance to Quiberon is the ideal spot. It is the reference point for all Morbihan surfers. Safe and suitable for all levels and ages, this vast stretch of sand will delight lovers of this discipline. For the most experienced among you, there is also the Bar of Etel. This surf spot, not recommended for beginners, is known for its very strong currents. It is located close to the mouth of the Ria d'Etel, a river suitable for the practice of paddle.
Surfing is not the only activity, sailing is another. This practice requires wind and vast flat expanse, which is why the beaches of Morbihan are perfect for this. One of the best known is the Kerhillio beach or St-Pierre Quiberon. Both offer sailing tank lessons for beginners or confirmed. Who knows, sailing tank training might give you the taste of the ocean?

Activities discovered in Morbihan
For the less sporty, Morbihan offers many other activities of discovery at the sea. I am obviously thinking of scuba diving. Our department is well known for its diving spots, especially with « The Gorets ».
This magnificent underwater place aims to preserve one of the most beautiful fields of Gorgones in Brittany. The dive takes place on a 6 to 21 m drop, composed of large granite blocks covered with sponges. This site, ranked 2nd most beautiful in the Atlantic, offers a grand show for beginner baptisms and divers.
For the most expert among you, we also offer you « The Great Corner », an island near the island of Houat. Discover through this exceptional blue water, a wildlife rich in color. These numerous algae and anemones that cover the rocks of this island, offer a unique spectacle. This site is absolutely to be done, but be careful, it requires level 1.
For the coldest, other activities are possible to discover the maritime landscapes of Morbihan. You can take a tour of catamaran, or sailboat... Many companies offer half-day excursions in the Gulf of Morbihan or to the island of Houat. These guided experiences will help you learn more about local flora and fauna. If you're lucky, you can see dolphins or seals.
If you want to sail on the sea at high speed, then test the jet-ski. You can enjoy an introduction to this practice through a hike. The latter will take you to the Gulf or a little further, near the island of Groix. Alone, as a family or as a group, you are sure to spend moments rich in sensations and secure.
